Playing Squad
Andrew Carney : (Goalkeeper) Comes from Rotherham. A Former Stocksbridge Park Steels, Frickley Athletic and Hednesford Town player A very commanding goalkeeper with apresence on and off the field. Player of the Year in season 2001/2002.
Richard Atkinson : (Goalkeeper) A young, local goalkeeper who is showing a lot of potential and a very capable deputy to Andy Carney. Reserve Team Player of the Year last season.
Gareth Dodd : (Defender) For many years Guy was a big favourite at Ossett Town. He was a key member of the Albion side that gained promotion to the Unibond League. Can play in a variety of positions and adds pace to the team. Missed a whole season through injury but now back to his best.
Dave Dodd : (Defender) Like his brother Guy, Dave was with neighbouring Ossett Town where he was respected for his loyalty and 100% commitment. Now putting his experience to good effect with Albion.
Dave Watts : (Defender) A local player who joined Albion in January 2000 from Ossett Town. Arrived as a striker but last season converted to centre back and subsequently made the position his own. Current Club captain and last season's Player of the Year.
Chris Shaw : (Midfield) A midfield player now in his second spell with Albion. He has also played for Emley and Ossett Town where he was regularly amongst the goals. A free kick expert who is vital at set pieces. Has the rae distinction of captaining both Ossett Albion and Ossett Town.
Nicky Clee: (Midfield) Joined Albion midway through last season from local football in Huddersfield. Broke into the first team via the Reserves and siezed his opportunity with both hands. An exciting player who can only get better with experience.
Adam Fretwell : (Midfield) Joined Albion at the beginning of last season and then returned tothe Club after a brief spell at Buxton. A creative midfield player who always looks to have time on the ball.
Brad Hill : (Midfield) Signed for Albion last February from Hallam but his season was badly interrupted by injury and suspension. Also played for the now defunct Denaby United and gives Albion an extra dimension in the air.
Craig Marsh : (Midfield) Joined Albion in January 2003 after spells with Frickley Athletic and Rossington. A versatile player who can operate in defence or midfield. Formerly on the books of Scunthorpe United.
Gary Duffty: (Midfield) A barnsley based player who signed for Albion in February 2003. Gary is an industrious midfield player with a good range of passing ability. Former clubs include Frickley Athletic and Rotherham United.
Jordan Kinnefick : (Midfield) A new signing this season, initially as a member of the Academy and Reserve teams, but he made such an impression in pre-season games that he is already on the fringe of the first team. Previous experience with Kirkburton in the Huddersfield League.
Mick Norbury : (Striker) Now in his second season at Queen's Terrace and a hugely influential player both on and off the field. Former clubs include Preston North End, Cambridge United, Telford, Hednesford Town, Halifax Town, Scarborough and Emley. He has been a prolific goalscorer wherever he has played football.
Danny Toronczak : (Striker) Now in his third season with Albion having also played for Ashton United and Guiseley at Unibond level. He has also played for Liversedge in the NCEL where he once scored a double hat trick against Harrogate Railway. Last season's top goalscorer.
Lee Bradley : (Striker) Joined Albion from Emley in 1999 and is Albion's longest serving player. Has been unlucky with injuries but he has a good strike rate and can also play in midfield.
Rob Ward : (Striker) Joined Albion in February this year from Dinnington Town in the Central Midlands League where he had an excellent strike record. Netted a hat trick in Albion's last league game of the season at Harrogate Railway.
Paul Peel : (Striker) Joined Albion midway through last season from Rossington. A player with plenty of energy who can fulfil a variety of roles.
Eric Gilchrist : (Manager) Lives in the neighbouring town of Horbury. Eric came to Ossett Albion at the start of the 2000/2001 season having previouly been at Liversedge for two and a half years. His playing as a professional was mainly at Barnsley where he made 18 first team appearances though he also had loan spells at Bradford City and Huddersfield Town. In his first season with Ossett Albion he guided the Club to the runners-up position in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division and subsequently promotion to the Unibond League. He was unable to keep the Club at that level but remained with them when they returned to the Northern Counties League where they finished fifth last season and only two points off the runners-up place. Guided Albion to last season's Uhlsport League Cup Final success.
Tony Passmore : (Assistant) A former Albion Player who teamed up with Eric Gilchrist as his assistant at liversedge. Moved to Queen's Terrace with the manager and has returned to the Club having had eighteen months away from football because of work commitments. A vitally important and well-respected member of the management team.
Nigel Yarrow : (Coach) For over 15 years Nigel was Albion's first choice goalkeeper during which time he chalked up over 600 appearances for the Club. Has returned to Queen's Terrace in a coaching capacity this season and is already making his presence felt.
Nicky Davies : (Physio) A Welsh International in Women's game and plays her club football with Manchester City Ladies. Her expertise in her field makes her a vital part of Albion's backroom staff. Nicky is a highly qualified Physio and has aspirations to go into management when her playing career is over.
